The purposes of this research were to 1) develop learning activities using the active learning SQ4R approach for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills to meet the efficiency criteria of 75/75, 2) compare the students’ learning achievement after and before learning by using in the active learning SQ4R approach for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills, 3) study the effectiveness index (E.I.) of the active learning SQ4R approach for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills, and 4) investigate the student’s satisfaction in learning towards the active learning SQ4R approach. The samples were 28 students of Matthayomsuksa 6/5 in the second semester under the academic year 2020 at Sikhiu “Sawadphadungwittaya” School, selected by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were 1) the 20-lesson plans of learning activities using
the active learning SQ4R approach for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skill 2) the 30-item reading comprehension skill test, and 3) the 15-item satisfaction questionnaire towards learning management by using the active learning SQ4R approach. The statistics used in the research included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired samples t-test.
The result revealed that 1) the efficiency of learning activities using the active learning SQ4R approach for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills was 80.34/81.79, 2) the mean score of Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills after learning through the developed activities was higher than before, with a statistically significant level of .001, 3) the active learning SQ4R approach’s effectiveness index (E.I.) the score for enhancing Matthayomsuksa 6 students’ English reading comprehension skills were 0.60, and
4) the student’s satisfaction towards the developed learning activities was at the highest level.
